1851 Census: Elizabeth Wilton is living with her brother in law, Robert Leadler/Leadley in Church Street. Elizabeth, unmarried, also John Wilton, nephew of Robert Leadley and Maria Leadley - granddaughter. Robert is 'head' of this household. Ref: HO107/2374/239, Page 30. Robert is a shipwright. John Wilton, aged 15 is a shipwright's apprentice. Elizabeth, aged 44 (therefore born c1807) is a house servant. Maria is 2 years old. All born in Whitby. Maria is the daughter of Robert's brother, Matthew Leadley.

1861 Census: Elizabeth is still living in Church Street. She is now head of the household, and a grocer. With her is John Wilton, aged 25 years, her son. He is a shipwright. Also in the household is Maria Leadley, Elizabeth's niece - ie Matthew Leadley's daughter and Elizabeth Leadley, aged 3. Maria is aged 12; she is a servant. Ref: RG9/3647/60, Page 26.

1871 Census: Elizabeth is living at 139 Church Street. She is still a grocer. Ref: RG10/4847/35, Page 29.

1881 Census: Elizabeth, now aged 74 years, is still living at 139 Church Street. The head of the household is Maria Fletcher, married, aged 33, a dressmaker - ie Maria Leadley. Children of Maria are Matthew aged 13, Elizabeth aged 8, William aged 4 and Isabella aged 3. Elizabeth is listed as Maria Fletcher's aunt; occupation formerly milliner. Ref: RG11/4833/37, Page 27.
